SMMC Residency

At the Providence St. Mary Medical Center, we recognize the importance of increasing diversity at all levels of our organization. Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) committee works to empower courageous commitment to growing a culture of inclusion and belonging at the medical center. Through programs and events, we’re working to cultivate a greater sense of belonging for everyone touched by our ministry. We’re developing pathways and partnerships in the High Desert to help attract and retain a diverse workforce that reflects the communities we serve.

Our residency leadership believes that learning from and caring for a population varying in age, race, gender, cultural background, socioeconomic status, religion, gender identity, and sexual orientation cultivates culturally competent and conscious physicians.

Diversity among our residents fosters an educational environment rooted in collaboration, communication, and teamwork. Our leadership is dedicated to recruiting trainees from underrepresented communities.
